Town Sign Gets a Facelift
Updated: Feb 23

The BCBA, a group of dedicated volunteers, is always looking to collaborate with other organizations and community members who would also like to volunteer on a project that will benefit the town. One such project has been to renovate the Boulder Creek town sign. The sign had been showing its age and was long past due for a makeover. With this in mind, we are celebrating another town beautification project underway. The BCBA, with the help of an Eagle Scout candidate, Hank Buckholdt, and Mardeen Gordon of SignAge and ArtWorks (https://sa-aw.com) are making the dream a possibility. Hank and his crew of volunteers have used sustainable mulching practices (known as "sheet mulching") with recycled cardboard and natural materials in the surrounding that will deter weed growth. They've also primed and painted the frame as well as the runners that the letters sit on. Donations of products used were gathered from local stores including Scarborough Lumber. The time management, gathering of donated materials, and overall project management are all elements necessary for Hank to achieve his wings. He's also worked closely with Mardeen who has re-faced the backing of each side of the sign. Once their two parts come together, the sign is going to look brand new!
The sign is used to announce upcoming events and to get messages out to the community. It can be rented on a weekly basis by contacting the BCBA at info@bcba.net. Those who are members of the BCBA at any level will receive a 25% discount on the cost of the sign for the duration of their membership. You can look into becoming a member on the Directory page under Memberships and Sponsorships.
